We as parents might have to compromise on our own needs and make necessary adjustments but we still pay the school's fee.

So profusely have we become obsessed with the idea of enrolling our children into elite and expensive private schools that we don't even give a thought to the fact that a government school could also be a viable option for our child to study in.

However, after declaration of this year's CBSE class XII results on Sunday, we might have to change this thought process, as Delhi's government schools outshone private schools yet again for the second time in a row. Now, that's what I call an improvement in the field of education.

The pass percentage gap between the government and private schools has increased to 9 per cent this year from 2 per cent last year This clearly indicates that the government schools are leaping forward and seem to be in perfect mood to change the course of their reputation.

CBSE officials said, "The Delhi government schools' pass percentage is 88.27 per cent, while it is 79.27 per cent for private schools."

Moreover, it's not just about passing the examination, thirty-three students from government schools have scored a perfect 100 in one or more subjects. Also, the number of schools that have been successful in achieving a pass percentage of more than 90 per cent has also increased by 7 and jumped from 547 to 554 schools this year.

All of this happened despite the fact that the government took absolutely stringent actions against the occurrence of incidents of cheating in the examinations. The deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia has announced that all the students who have topped in their respective streams and fields will be felicitated.
